Harnessing mobile technology to advertise used vehicle stock

In recent years the internet has led to a change in the way consumers actively search for and buy their vehicles, so that they spend less time visiting dealership and more time accessing information online.

Manheim Retail Marketing’s new Mobile Marketing product brings a new concept into the consumer search and buying process by providing the ability to access information about dealer’s stock via mobile phones. Consumers don’t always have time to walk around forecourts or access to the internet from a PC – but they will undoubtedly always have their mobile!

Giving consumers the ability to utilise this technology couldn’t be easier. All dealers need to do is advertise the text service across all their different advertising routes (e.g. online, direct mail, flyers, point of sale, vehicle windscreens), inviting them to text for further information.

Key benefits:

  • Consumers can access key information about a vehicle directly from their mobile
  • Texts are instantaneous, allowing for vehicle information to be sent immediately to consumers handsets
  • Vehicle information can be shared with friends and family members, helping to aid the decision making process
  • Seamless integration with stock listings allowing for real-time display of information

Manheim Restructures Retail Operations

Manheim is restructuring the three businesses that make up its Retail Services division, following a review of its consumer-facing brands.

All will now adopt the Manheim brand and will share common services including sales, marketing, human resources, finance and IT support.

From the beginning of March, Manheim Retail Services will comprise:

  • Manheim Retail Marketing – formerly Portfolio Europe
  • Manheim Lead Management – formerly e-GoodManners
  • Manheim Aftersales Solutions – formerly Real Time Communications

The rebrand forms part of a strategy to integrate these previously separate businesses into a single joined-up entity.

John Simpson, Manheim Retail Services managing director, will head up the newly enlarged management board which also includes the current business heads of Alan Hazelhurst and Tim Baumfield.

Simpson said: “The products offered by the previously separate business entities are so closely linked that it makes so much sense to provide them through a single function.”

The restructure will mean a consolidation of customer contact points which Manheim believes will provide a more consistent approach to serving its dealer customers.

Manheim’s recently launched used car portal for consumers, Carmony, is not affected by these brand changes.
